From an early age Sheri loved reading whatever she could get her
hands on, often adult-books read by her father. Every book contributed
to her education. Her earliest writing successes include a gory story in
first grade that earned a trip to the principal's office and a story
told from the point of view of a man's tie, which greatly amused her
seventh-grade class.
Sheri's early jobs included babysitting, selling snacks at a
concession stand at Woodland Park Zoo, leading a shift at the local
McDonald's, and working in the deli at K-mart. She got a factory job at
Boeing and worked for three and a half years as a decal maker. While
working, Sheri took undergraduate courses at the
Early in her career, Sheri returned to school to develop her
writing skills. She completed the certificate program in poetry and the
two-year Commercial Fiction certificate program that taught her how to
write her first science fiction novel at the
Sheri's main literary interest is science fiction. She has a
scientific bent, her degree was in computers, math, and physics, and
much more importantly the imagination to create a scientifically
realistic future. Sheri has taken vacations on scientific expeditions
sponsored by Earthwatch that include studies of underwater sea grasses,
studies of bird behavior, excavating remnants of Mayan civilizations,
and discovering ruins from ancient civilizations in Turkey. She
continues to travel and learn about art, history, and commerce. She is
an avid bird watcher, an amateur photographer, a dedicated gardener, and
tries to exercise in fun ways when she can.
Sheri has written short stories, poems, and now her first science
fiction novel, with more on the way. Her poetry has been published in
small journals including Jeopardy,
Heliotrope, and nycBigCityLit.com.
She has participated in local poetry readings at many venues including
Poets West at the Sheri is a Judy's Book City Editor,
maintains a journal at Yahoo!360, www.familes.com,
www.iexplore.com, and www.gather.com.
She is a member of Pacific
Northwest Writer's Association, Seattle Writer's Association, Washington
Poets Association, Science Fiction Poetry Association and Poets West. She also participates in several Sheri is married to Bob, a former strategic planner at the Boeing Company and now her editor-extraordinaire.
